Narrower Upper-Tier Cutting Boards

We're trying out narrower upper-tier cutting boards for the 4' Mini! This way, three boards will cover the entire Galley for maximum use of counter space.  And using just one board is a good width in proportion to the 4' Galley.  Check out more of the Galley Accessories that are available by clicking here.

Arthur's BBQ Recipe

Arthur's BBQ Sauce:

4 tbsp. pickling spice
1/2 cup red pepper flakes
1/2 onion finely chopped
 1/2 clove garlic minced
.
 1 cup vinegar
4 tbsp. salt
1 cup worcestershire
3 tbsp. tomato sauce
1 cup sugar
1 stick non-salt butter.
10 oz.corn starch..*see note below.
..
step 1: put pickling spices, red pepper flakes, garlic & onion
in 1 qt. pan, add enough water to allow for boiling 1 inch from
top. boil approx. 5-6 minutes
.
step 2: while other pan is boiling add remaining ingredients
(except starch) in 5.5 qt. pan and add water to within 2 inches
from top. Pour 1st pot thru strainer into 2nd pot. Bring to a boil
for 15 minutes then reduce to medium heat, stir in corn starch
for approx. 3 minutes, let it cool and then you can refrigerate,
will last a long time. Makes1 gallon

*Cornstarch: It needs to be mixed completely with cold water before
being added to boiling liquid, and once added, it needs to be cooked only
until the liquid has thickened. If you cook it too long, it will break down
and the liquid will lose its thickness.

NOW We're Cooking! New Galley Kitchen

Look at the difference between the before & after! The old refrigerator wall was removed to gain space for a family-size island with a 5 1/2' Galley and a 4-burner induction cook top. Now two or more cooks can work at the sink at one time, while others sit comfortably at the seating side of the island. Generous storage in the island holds everything they need to work at The Galley.

New Galley Kitchen!

This gorgeous kitchen is the latest home for a 4' Galley.  The homeowners wanted a professional gas cook top, but most of their real cooking will be done at the 2 burner induction that's built in right next to the Galley.  Can you imagine the wonderful creations that are soon to come out of this kitchen?!

Hey fellow-bloggers,

We want your input! We're creating a brand new cooking show that will air on the web, that will be like NOTHING that's been done before, and we're looking for a title! Here are the key ingredients (no pun intended):

• chefs will be cooking at the Galley (yes, cooking AT a sink, that's new for cooking shows!)
• incorporating kitchen design and function into the show
• we'll talk about the appliances (they'll be cool! steam ovens, induction cook tops, the future of induction in ovens, etc)
• specialized cooking shows, like gluten-free; vegetarian; and what-to-eat-to-die-right-now food
• field trips to the Galley factory and others, kitchens being remodeled, etc!
• live audience interacting with the chef
• viewers can watch on their ipad, iphone, computer whenever they want
• new show each month

Galley Owners Are Getting Creative!

First bathing babies at the Galley, washing dogs, canning, and now... cleaning window screens. We love it. Read below to see what this Galley owner has to say about his Galley!

"Our favorite part is that when we're working at the Galley, which is where we do ALL our work now, the rest of the kitchen stays clean.  It's simple to clean up!  Everything you need is right there.  Looking back, I don't see how we did it without a Galley.  Also, I found a new use for it: it's the perfect width to clean my new window screens!"

Portable Induction AND Gas Cooktops

Elegance & Luxury Meet Function

This is a recently completed kitchen designed by KitchenDesign.com.  The homeowners could not be happier with their brand new kitchen, but most of all, with their Galley.  The Galley has transformed the way that they operate in their kitchen.  Below are a few photos (to view more click here).

The 5 ½’ Undermount Galley is in the island, with an induction cook top within easy reach of the faucet/pot filler. This is an ideal setup!

The induction cook top is close enough to the Galley that the faucet on the right can double as a pot filler.

Tips from the Galley: Caring for your Stainless Steel Sink

Cleaning Guide
Rinsing is the most important part of sink care.  Your stainless steel sink finish will retain its original bright appearance if the sink is rinsed thoroughly after each use.  This can be done by running water from the spray hose for a few minutes.  A rinse and towel drying after each use takes care of most everyday clean ups.  Once a week the sink should be scoured with a mildly abrasive cleanser, rubbing back and forth in the direction of the polish or in a circular motion to remove stubborn stains and greasy film buildups.  This will blend any scratches into the satin finish of the sink.  Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry and your sink will shine like new.

Scratches
Like most metals, your stainless steel sink will scratch.  The featured benefit of the unique satin finish is the ease with which these scratches blend into the uniform finish of the sink.  This is accomplished with a periodic scouring with a mild abrasive ScotchBrite pad and cleanser.  To clean your sink, use the mildest cleaning procedure that will do the job effectively.  On the mirror finish deck we recommend using a liquid detergent with a soft cloth.  Do not use any abrasive materials on the mirror finish.  Inside the sink bowl we recommend using a mild abrasive cleanser such as Old Dutch or Comet.  Use a product such as Nevr-Dull to restore the original luster to your sink.

Discoloration
Wet sponges, clothes, cleaning pads and rubber mats left on the sink can lead to discoloration.  Remove any mats after each use.  Steel wool pads should never be used to clean your sink as they leave small iron particles in the grain lines, which rust and can damage the sink. Continued usage in this manner may eventually lead to the sink itself rusting and pitting.

Knives
Do not use your sink as a cutting surface.  This type of use will lead to deep scratches in the ink finish and will dull your knives.

Chlorides
Chlorides are found in almost all soaps, detergents, bleaches and cleansers.  Chlorides are not friendly to the stainless steel surface.  They should not come in contact with the sink for extended periods.  When these chemicals are used in your sink, it should be thoroughly rinsed.  Chlorine bleach is not recommended, as it will attack the protective layer that makes stainless steel truly stainless.  The risk of damage is proportional to the concentration of the chlorine and duration of exposure.  Exposure can cause rusting and pitting.  Do not allow concentrated liquid detergent to dry in your sink.  Most brands contain chemical additives, which will affect the original high luster finish.
